Cooking With Colt - Reuben Casserole

It isn’t very often that I cook. When I do it’s for a special someone or an interesting video contest. In the case of my Cooking With Colt video involving the Reuben Casserole, it was for CreateTV.com’s 2017 Cooking Challenge. The overall goal of the contest was to create a 2-minute video of something cooking related. I decided to put together one of my favorite dishes that was easy to put together: A Reuben Casserole. This recipe is delicious and I highly recommend trying it out especially if you like Reuben Sandwiches.

The Recipe:

1 Loaf of Rye Bread (Cubed)

1 Large Can of Sauerkraut

1 Cup of Sour Cream

1/2 Cup of Thousand Island Dressing

3 Cups of Swiss Cheese

1 lb. of Corn Beef

1/2 Cup of Butter

Cover with tinfoil and bake in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes. Then take the foil off and then bake for another 10 minutes. Then, enjoy!

I should find out by the end of April or early May if I win anything. Grand prize is some cash and me doing nearly a dozen more cooking segments for them. I’ll be sure to update this blog with the results.

Behind The Scenes

Be it that I am an amateur cook, I had the World’s Greatest Grandmother serve as technical expert for this video. The contest also called for no music, hence the lack of a soundtrack. The original cut of this video was nearly 3 minutes so I had to cut out some banter and tangents to get it under the 2-minute mark. The casserole was completely devoured a few hours later in the day. It was darn good.
